Bruce Richards grew up sailing on the Tennessee River in North Alabama and later studying at Indian Springs School before pursing his undergraduate studies in chemical engineering at Rice University graduating with Tau Beta Pi honors.
He attended Vanderbilt Medical School and received the CIBA Community Service Award for his work with the Appalachian Student Health Coalition, graduating with Alpha Omega honors in 1982.
He was board certified in 1985 after completing his residency in Internal Medicine at UAB. He has practiced Internal Medicine in Nashville since that time. A member of NAM and TMA, he has been an active supporter of Alive Hospice currently serving on its medical advisory committee.
In 2001 he was nominated for the St. Thomas Hospital’s Humanitarian Award. He is the husband to Sherrie Richards (OB/GYN) and the “Dance Daddy” to Kim and Kiri, both majoring in dance. Dr. Richards remains passionate about sailing.
