Benjamin Ferrell is a native of Shelby, North Carolina. He graduated from Davidson College in 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion. He received his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, Virginia. He then completed his Internal Medicine residency at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, followed by a fellowship in Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine. He has conducted nationally-recognized research with the ICU Delirium research group at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. His research there focused on discovering how clinical and genetic factors affect ICU patient outcomes. Dr. Ferrell is married to Georgia Ferrell, MD, an OBGYN, also of Saint Thomas Medical Partners. They have two young children and reside in Nashville.
